About
Our Story
Dillons was originally started by Richard Dillon in 2010. In 2015 we took a risk and totally changed our business model. This saw a change of premises to our current, central Ilkley studio in The Grove Promenade.
The business has seen much change and it is now run by twin brothers Richard and Jon Dillon, making it a real family business.
We believe in facts not fads when it comes to the science of coaching. The fact that we are a family run boutique facility allows us to be able to adapt and explore innovative ways of looking at fitness, exercise, and nutrition.
Our bespoke exercise programmes take inspiration from disciplines such as Yoga, Pilates, and Gymnastics. We have also coupled our training with the innovative, My Zone heart rate monitoring system to give you real time metrics during and post workout. This, combined with our own expertise in fitness creates highly scientific training using cutting edge technology.
At Dillons you’ll never take a session without our friendly professional guidance ensuring that you are safe, motivated, and accountable.
We know exercising somewhere new can be daunting so we’ve tried to make it as friendly as possible so you can feel part of our fantastic community. All our members are treated individually, and we know everyone by name that walks through the door. We have regular socials so that people in different class slots can get to know each other too!

Our Philosophy

New Training Methods
As a team we have over 30 years of experience in the fitness industry. We have been the first in town to embrace new training methods and technologies. We quickly realised that a one size fits all approach does not work for our clients. The programmes we curate for our clients are:
- Designed for each person
- Solve individual requirements
- Bespoke to Dillons

Mobility
We recognised a vital component missing from most fitness programmes was mobility, or put more simply, movement. Many of our clients have sedentary jobs, even more so since the pandemic if you are still working from home. This can lead to:
- Joint problems
- Lack of mobility
- Pain
We focus on functional movement training, enabling you to become:
- Stronger
- Fitter
- More Flexible
It’s this approach, backed up by our nutritional advice and social support which is the reason we are seeing better results from clients.

Common Sense & Science
We don’t follow the latest fads. We keep our eye on what is trending, and if there is new research or evidence to back it up, we will look to integrate it into our programming.
Ultimately, we use a common-sense approach combined with science to offer the safest and most effective way of training our clients.
One of our unique USP’s is our investment in wearable fitness technology. See below.
Myzone
Dillons are the first to implement this cutting-edge fitness technology in Ilkley.
Myzone is a unique, wearable fitness tracker that shows and rewards EFFORT when you work out. The data can be displayed collectively for group training or individually direct to your smartphone, making it great tool for participant and coach alike. It displays the following metrics on screen
- Real time Heart Rate
- Calories burned
- Intensity %
The effort is easily shown with five colour coded personalised zones and has a simple rewards-based metric called MEPs (Myzone Effort Points). These align with the *WHO guidelines for physical activity, to encourage you to keep up with regular exercise.
